Society of the Old West

From early westward expansion through the early 20th Century.

Seems while we have all been pursuing our studies into the Old West, and historical dates and events of that fond era, we have missed an important event that relates to us all indeed. It was on December 3, 2009 that Gayle Martin brought down the Thunder and created this home for us to partake.

They said SOTOW wouldn't last a week, a month or a year. SOTOW started with 10 charter members on that day and has grown to 70 plus members since then. Of course some have come and gone but we have beat the odds.  It's been over 314 weeks now, 72 months or 6 years since a bunch of malcontents left other prestigious sites and rode into this town we have all come to affectionately call SOTOW.

My hats off to Gayle, with a Hearty Congratulations on this historical milestone, and a Old West handshake to all who have saddled up and been along for the ride. It's been a pleasure, and a privilege, to be a member. I hold you all in high esteem.

Best regards,

If I may speak on behalf of the members, we're much obliged to you Gayle. Aw shucks, we'll always have your back no matter where you hang your hat or what trail your on and wish you all the best!

Thanks Joe. I know I don't spend that much time here anymore as I'm now writing contemporary books, but I still consider this place my gift to you all, and as long as you are are happy here this saloon will remain open.

Well said, pardner.  Dottie and I have been on the trail for about 6 months now and the anniversary plumb evaded us.  We found a new ranch for us outside of Mount Vernon, MO and are moving in next week.  So, we have been somewhat distracted.

Joe, you have been a great foreman here and are greatly appreciated.  You are the one that I and Gayle look to to keep the miscreants from sneaking in behind us.  Thank you for all your help.
